Late antique and medieval fortress Hisarlaka rises on the hill of the same name not far from the town of Kyustendil. The fortification was built at the end of the 4th - beginning of the 5th century, and for centuries it was used to protect the Bulgarian lands. The fortress was demolished by the Ottoman conquerors in the 15th century. The fortress occupies an area of about 21 m2 and has the shape of an irregular polygon, following the peculiarities of the applied terrain.
