National Museum of Nis was founded on April 1, 1933, by a group of enthusiasts gathered around the Museum Society founded that year. The museum has been of a complex type since its founding. Today, it has over 40,000 items in its funds, in the field of archeology, history, art history, numismatics and epigraphy, ethnology and the literary legacy of Stevan Sremec and Branko Miljković. The curator told us that the National Museum of Nis also takes care of cultural assets of exceptional importance: the archeological site of Mediana, the monument to the Tower and the memorial museum - camp "February 12". The museum also includes the Synagogue Gallery and the Stevan Sremac / Branko Miljković Literary Memorial Exhibition.
